The shoes

The shoes
Take me
To the icy rocks
To the pine forests
To the villages,
towns,
cities.

The shoes
take me
to the new lands
across seven seas,
to the new worlds
beyond the skies.

The shoes
Take me
To the parliament
To the United Nations.

The shoes take me
To the gurudwara
To the church
To the mosque
To the holy fireplace

But when the shoes take me
To the temple
I am thrown out
like
The shoes
themselves.
